Overview:
This module focuses on basic greetings and introductions, providing students with the necessary language skills to meet new people and initiate conversations in Arabic. Students will learn how to introduce themselves and others, ask for names, and use polite expressions commonly used in social interactions. This foundation will help build confidence and establish the basics for more complex conversations.

Learning Objectives:

• Learn and practice common Arabic greetings and farewells.
• Understand and use phrases for self-introduction and introducing others.
• Ask and answer basic questions about personal information (name, origin, etc.).
• Use polite expressions and cultural etiquette during introductions.

Key Vocabulary and Phrases:

1. Common Greetings:
   • Hello/Hi: مرحبا (Marhaban) / أهلاً (Ahlan)
   • Peace be upon you: السلام عليكم (As-salamu alaykum)
   • Response: وعليكم السلام (Wa alaykum as-salam)
   • Good morning: صباح الخير (Sabah al-khayr)
   • Response: صباح النور (Sabah an-noor)
   • Good evening: مساء الخير (Masa’ al-khayr)
   • Response: مساء النور (Masa’ an-noor)
2. Common Farewells:

• Physical Gestures: A handshake is common in formal settings, but men typically do not shake hands with women unless the woman extends her hand first. A light hug or kiss on the cheeks is common among friends and family members of the same gender.
• Use of Titles: Showing respect by using titles (e.g., Mr., Mrs., Dr.) and the person’s first name is customary, especially in formal or professional settings.
